2019 West Wirral District Bowling Competition

Our Scouts had a great time at the West Wirral District 10 Pin Bowling competition on a rainy Thursday night in March at Riverside Bowl in New Brighton, Wirral.  We didn’t win but the 4th Heswall Sea Scouts enjoyed the competition, seeing friends old and new in other Scout troops from the district and of course eating the chips was a highlight.

In total 97 Scouts attended from 11 out of the 17 troops in West Wirral. The honours this year went to 2nd West Kirby Sea Scouts and Ben from 1st Frankby Greasby won the highest individual score.

We are happy to report that despite their best efforts, our Scouts failed to throw a bowling ball through a score monitor or crack any floor boards. Next year we will try to have a bit of an all patrol and parent bowling evening prior to the event, as we found out on the night we have a 10 pin bowling champion among our parents to provide some coaching and guidance.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
