4th Heswall Remembers

Date: 16th Nov 2019 Author: Scout Leader

Remembrance Sunday 2019 was once again a poignant and emotional day.

All members of the 4th Heswall Sea Scout Group that took part in the Heswall Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade represented our group with pride and dignity.

Following the investiture of some of our new members, our Sea Scouts marched down Village Road to St. Peter’s Centre where they met our Beaver and Cub packs, along with the Heswall Guides, Brownies, British Legion members and Armed Forces representatives.

With other members of our parish, we attended the Remembrance Service at St. Peter’s Church before marching up School Hill to the Memorial Service at the mirror bend memorial garden.  Then, to the accompaniment of the Heswall Pipe Band we marched through Heswall to the final act of remembrance service and last post in the Heswall Royal British Legion garden.

All of our young members conducted themselves with pride, discipline and respect during all the morning events. We then all enjoyed hotdogs, crisps and juice in the Big Room courtesy of the Royal British Legion.

The Scout Association is a non-profit organisation, and as such, our Scout Group is run entirely by a dedicated team of unpaid adult volunteers and parents.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
