RYA Recognition

Date: 6th Jul 2025 Author: Scout Leader

We are proud to announce the following …

On Saturday 5 July 2025 we, the group, have been officially recognised as a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, a big step in the group’s history.

This will enable our Royal Navy Affiliated RYA Instructor volunteers to train and award our young people and adults with national governing body sailing and power boating qualifications, ensuring we have experienced and qualified on water activity volunteers for a sustainable future.

A huge thank you to all the team involved including the 5 young people who helped to demonstrate a training session on the morning of the inspection.

This is a result of amazing dedication and preparations.
Well done all

Mo Barker, Group Lead Volunteer

The group are also progressing towards providing Keelboat and First Aid instruction on their RYA syllabus to offer an even wider range of skills and safety to our young people and adult volunteers within the group. Real world qualifications will further enhance our academy style approach in developing our young volunteers to become lead volunteers of the future through our Young Leader Training program.

A significant moment in the group’s 57 year history.
