4th Heswall Supports Local Business with New Fusions…

To mark RN100, One hundered years of Royal Navy recognition of UK Sea Scouting, 4th Heswall RN44 has raised enough funding and sponsorship to replace our ageing fleet of Laser Pico sailboats.

Our leadership team looked at many options when choosing a new sailboat fleet suitable for all levels of Scout sailing and one that would fit with the needs of our whole group.

We needed four sailing dinghies suitable for use as a single handed junior racer, as a double hander with jib sail, or as a trainer where an adult or young leader can sail with a Beaver, Cub or Junior Scout.

With a number of boats that met the requirements of the group on the market, and many within the budget based on existing and projected fundraising, we decided on the Fusion sailboat which is produced locally at Deeside in North Wales.

At the beginning of 2019 the group committee offered our four Pico sailboats to other Sea Scout groups in the UK, within a week an offer was made and our trusty fleet of Pico sailboats are now providing more years of service, experiences and pleasure to other UK Sea Scouts.

With additional funding assistance from Wirral Charity Post, Heswall Round Table, and other sponsors we took delivery of our four new Fusion Sailboats in March 2019.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
