Wirral Junior Paddle Challenge 2022

Despite windy conditions the 2022 Wirral Junior Paddle Challenge took place at West Kirby Marine Lake in September.

Over 40 young people took on the two leg challenge of kayaks and paddle boards to record their times and become the Wirral Junior Paddle Champion. Each participant raised sponsorship for local youth charities such as Stick ‘n’ Step, a charity for children with cerebral palsy and their families.

The young people all demonstrated great resilience and determination in their efforts to complete the course in their best time.

Parents made cake and treats for after, each participant got a water bottle and the three category winners each get a gift voucher for Heswall Army and Navy.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event, Mike from Wirral Kayak Challenge, Steve and his team from 64th Birkenhead Sea Scouts, Andy and team from 4th Heswall Sea Scouts, and Wirral Watersports Centre for the kind use of the lake and facilities.

We hope to see you all back next year.
