Mark Caldecott

Date: 5th Feb 2021 Author: Scout Leader

The Caldecott Cup is an annual paddle challenge competition held every July in memory of Mark Caldecott.

Mark was amongst our founding members as a young man, he later became Sea Scout Leader, then as Venture Scout Leader, and finally the Group Scout Leader of 4th Heswall (St Peter’s) Sea Scout Group.

Mark was 4th Heswall through and through and his passion for Scouting was clear to see by all who met him. In later years Mark loved checking in on our activities through social media and was always the first to like, comment, and share the adventures we posted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and You Tube.
We trust that seeing online our thriving Scout Group, that he had a huge part in developing, brought him lots of pride and happiness in his final years.

A keen kayaker, great guitarist and avid Landrover fan, Mark made great memories and adventures for thousands of young people from Heswall and the surrounding area, Mark will be remembered with pride and happiness by every one of them.

The troop will hold an event during the summer to commemorate Mark’s contribution to the group.

May fair winds and a following sea be with you, paddle strong and paddle straight.
Gone Home, rest well Mark xx
