Race Across Wirral (RAW)

RAW 2026 will be take place on Saturday 20 June 2026

THE RAW MISSION

To work as a team of 4 to 7 Scouts and race across Wirral, solve clues and navigate to checkpoints using public transport in the fastest time, take a team selfie at each checkpoint with the landmark or item in the background, send to the organisers to receive clues to the finish location, crack the safe when you get there and claim the prize. The challenge is open to West Wirral Scouts aged 12.5 years and above, Explorers, Young Leaders, and Adult Volunteers.

THE RAW REASON

The challenge is designed to:

    • Encourage working as a team to reach a goal
    • Embrace technology to calculate the most time efficient routes
    • Work out riddles and clues using local knowledge or online research
    • Navigate timetables and public transport schedules
    • Explore and understand the size of the Wirral on a day out with mates
    • Promote the Wirral and Scouting adventures on social media
    • Young People being independent together and enjoying a day out
    • Being self sufficient managing your time, resources, and finance

A team will consist of 4 Scouts or Explorer / Young Leader. As a special concession. Larger team sizes are permitted to a maximum of 7.  Smaller teams are not allowed under Scout Association rules.

Explorer Scouts take part in the event in Teams of 4 or more and compete in a totally separate Explorer Scout competition. Network and Veteran teams of 2 or more are also invited to win the ultimate prize in scout leadership, bragging rights.

Entry is £10 per participant, get a team together, give it a name, and contact your Section Leader for joining details.
