Sunset Sailing

After almost six months of Scouting from Home our Sea Scouts have had a fabulous month of September Sunset Sailing.

Since March our Sea Scouts had an online newsletter every week, Zoom meetings, various quiz nights, games and craft, an online AGM and several investitures to welcome our new Sea Scouts.
We covered many badges that could be completed at home, our Scouts submitted their evidence online for our leaders to verify and award the badge.  So successful was our badges at home programme that we have never awarded so many diverse badges during the summer term in our fifty year history.

We held a week of sailing sessions during August to test the new procedures and ensure our covid secure risk assessment covered all eventualities.

During September our Sea Scouts have enjoyed Saturday mornings and sunset sailing twice a week. We are now looking forward to lots of great outdoor socially distanced activities that have been planned and approved as covid secure.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
