Paddling

We have over 20 kayaks and canoes to suit all abilities and conditions. Our leaders are competent paddlers and regularly take to the water.

We are always keen to take more Scouts out in our kayaks, but this means we need more leaders and assistants with paddle skills and permits. If you already paddle and have a BCA Qualification, or would be interested in learning to paddle, please contact our leaders and we will arrange a training and assessment session for you to become a skills assistant.

If you have British Canoeing Award, we can usually grant a permit and get you on the water in no time, subject to Safeguarding, First Aid and a DBS check… https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/

British Canoeing, formerly known as the British Canoe Union is a national governing body for canoeing in the United Kingdom. Established in 1936 as the British Canoe Union, in 2000 it federalised to become the umbrella organisation for the home nation associations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
