Our group currently has two powerboats which are used as training and safety boats throughout the year and transport when at camp.

Our Leaders and assistants regularly take to the water for safety and support during water activities in our RIBs, Rigid Inflatable Boats.

We allow our senior Scouts to take the helm under supervision as we train them to competently control a motorised craft in different conditions, if they commit to the training and perform well we will recommend them for an RYA Qualification and Scout Permit.

We are always keen to take more Scouts out on the water, but this means we need more leaders and assistants with powerboat skills and permits.

If you regularly use a powerboat, have an RYA Qualification, or would be interested in learning to control a powerboat, please contact our leaders and we will arrange a training and assessment session for you to become a permit holder.

The Wirral Sailing Centre hosts regular RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses on our lake and out on the Dee Estuary.

The Royal Yachting Association is the national governing body for dinghy, yacht and motor cruising, all forms of sail racing, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing and personal watercraft and a leading representative for inland waterways cruising. If you have an RYA Powerboat Qualification and regularly take to the water, we can usually grant a permit and get you on the water as a Skills Assistant in no time, subject to Safeguarding, First Aid and a DBS check.
