Former 4th Heswall Sea Scout wins in Portland.
Many congratulations to Caitlin, a former member of 4th Heswall Sea Scouts. Over the Easter break Caitlin won the Bic Techno windsurfing class for girls at the 2019 RYA Youth National Championships and came 4th overall at the biggest RYA Youth competition to date.
Sadly Caitlin had to leave Scouts this Easter as she is now over 14, we wish her every success as she pursues her competitive sailing ambitions with the full support of her family and West Kirby Warriors youth windsurfing team.
Last year Caitlin had a string of success at national windsurfing competitions across the country which ultimately crowned her as the 2018 Female U15’s UK Champion, details of her successes were published in this Heswall Magazine article.
Understandably Caitlin’s parents are very proud of her continued success, her father Mark, a windsurfer himself, talks about Caitlin’s time at 4th Heswall…
‘Caitlin has always loved the water and really benefitted from the sailing experience she gained with the Sea Scouts. We’re obviously really pleased with this result and proud of all her hard work and committment. She, and I, would love to see lots more Scouts having a go at windsurfing!’
